Continuing Education Units
Simply passing a licensing or certification exam does not constitute life-long knowledge, which is why many states and SCMHR, require continuing education for the upkeep of licenses and certifications. While continuing education “units” and “hours” are often used interchangeably, they are recorded differently. For instance, one hour of continuing education is recorded as .10 unit; 10 hours of continuing education is recorded as 1.00 unit.
SCMHR requires 75 hours (7.5 units) of continuing education education to renew its certifications. For more information, please contact the Home Office.
